This kimono features a rare to find deep and rich fuchsia pink silk fabric with luxurious multi-colour lurex embellishment and hand painted full body matching seam kikiyo (bell flower)pattern.
The bellflower is one of the seven autumnal flowers that boast beautiful blossoms in the shape of temple bells between July and September in Japan. When chanced upon in the mountains during late summer to early autumn, a cluster of the flowers is a visual treat.
Kikiyo (bell Flower) kamon was the crest of the Toki clan who used this bell flower blue as their main colour for flags on the battlefield, later transferred the colour onto their Mon as well.
This piece is a perfect example of exquisite and smart craftsmanship, with skills rare to find in modern market and fine match of its kamon and pattern design.
