This kimono is a special and staple piece for collectors.
It features a rare to see paint, with double lions, each on one side of a palm tree.
The palm tree is for sure an exotic element for kimono print, but you can also find plum blossom shaped flowers, which are undoubtedly motifs, blending into that.
You can also find other classical motifs like birds, hills and creeks.
Lion, on the other hand, is considered in many cultures as powerful protectors.
The Kuyo Mon at central back and front shoulder symbolises Navagraha, the nine astronomical objects in Hindu astrology. Japanese people believed that the Navagraha could protect them against evils, and the Kuyo mon has been sued by many samurai and warlords throughout history, like Hosokawa, lord of Kumamoto, or the Soma Clan and etc.
