This kimono features a staple yet rare to find design, with traditional motifs such as phoenix, pine, bamboo, maple and plum blossom.

The Fuji (wisteria) is one of the 10 most used family emblems in Japan.
The Fujiwara house and its branches, the most powerful noble family of Kyoto during the Heian period were probably the first to use the wisteria as their emblem, possibly because they had the character fuji included in their surname.

Tomesode was traditionally considered as female formal attire, however, in nowadays collector's market, it is highly favoured as unisex as a result of its 'fit everyone' black base colour and classical pattern design.
